Attention/Deficit Hyperactive Disorder Assessment (ADHD)

About This Assessment

What is ADHD?

ADHD can present differently across the lifespan and between genders. While it often involves persistent inattention, impulsivity, or hyperactivity, girls and women may show more subtle internal signs, like daydreaming, anxiety, or late-diagnosis challenges. Children might struggle with focus or sitting still, adolescents with time management, and adults with organisation or self-regulation.

Key features include difficulties with attention and focus, hyperactivity or restlessness, and impulsivity, all of which can affect daily life, relationships, school, or work. Recognising these patterns is the first step toward tailored, practical support.

What’s Involved in an ADHD Assessment?
  • Initial Consultation: We start with a relaxed conversation to understand your or your child’s experiences across daily life. Together, we’ll decide if a full ADHD assessment is the best next step.
  • Rating Scales & Intake: We gather input from you, teachers, or caregivers using gentle, well-established questionnaires. This helps us understand strengths and challenges from different perspectives.
  • Clinic-Based Assessment: In a calm, supportive environment, we use interactive tasks, cognitive tools, and structured conversations to explore attention, impulsivity, and individual strengths.
  • Formulation & Diagnosis: We thoughtfully piece together the full picture, considering how ADHD may be influencing daily life.
  • Feedback & Reporting: We meet with you to share insights and answer questions. A clear, personalised report follows, offering practical steps forward.

* Please Note: All our assessments are conducted by Chartered Psychologists. Our recommendations focus on behavioural, psychological, and environmental supports. While some individuals with ADHD may benefit from medication, receiving a diagnosis from our clinic does not automatically lead to a prescription. If medication is desired following diagnosis, we can facilitate a referral to a collaborating psychiatrist. Our aim is to ensure you have the right supports, tailored to your unique needs and preferences.

Benefits of Getting an Assessment?

An ADHD assessment offers clarity at any age. For children, it can unlock tailored supports in school, helping them thrive academically and socially. Adolescents may gain tools for organisation and confidence as they approach exams or independence. For adults, it can provide a new understanding of lifelong patterns, sometimes resolving past misdiagnoses and guiding mental well-being. Across all stages, it can lead to workplace accommodations, strengthen relationships, and foster a sense of identity and self-compassion.
