Parental Consultation
For clarity, guidance, and direction.
About This Assessment
Overview
A Parental Consultation is a 60-minute session with a Chartered Psychologist designed to provide clarity, guidance, and direction.
It is a flexible, standalone appointment where you can discuss concerns about your child, explore possible next steps, or simply sense-check what you are noticing.
What can a Parental Consultation be used for?
Parents often book consultations to:
- Discuss behavioural, emotional, social, or learning concerns.
- Clarify whether an assessment may be appropriate, and if so, which type.
- Explore differences between autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or emotional factors.
- Seek guidance about school supports or therapeutic options.
- Reflect on parenting strategies in the context of a child’s individual profile.
- Adults may also use this session to explore their own questions about possible assessment and to understand the process before making decisions.
What are the benefits?
1. Clarity
Parents often leave with a clearer understanding of what may be happening and what is not. Sometimes reassurance is enough. Sometimes further steps are helpful. The consultation helps distinguish between the two.
2. Direction
You receive practical guidance about next steps, whether that involves monitoring, school supports, therapeutic input, or a formal assessment.
3. Informed Decision-Making
Rather than committing to a full assessment immediately, this session allows you to make thoughtful, evidence-informed choices.
4. A Contained Space to Think
Parenting concerns can feel overwhelming. A structured, professional conversation provides space to slow down, reflect, and plan.
All consultations are delivered by a Chartered Psychologist with specialist experience in child and adolescent development.
This ensures that guidance is grounded in clinical expertise, current evidence, and practical experience. Parents leave with informed reassurance, thoughtful recommendations, and a clearer sense of direction regarding the challenges they are facing.
